Twitter banned columnist CJ Verleman’s account, requested by the government

New Delhi. On the request of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the micro-blogging site Twitter has posted columnist C.J. Verleman’s account has been banned. He writes on issues like ‘Islamophobia’ and conflict and terrorism. A message on the columnist’s Twitter handle read, ‘C.J. Verleman’s account was banned in India due to legal reasons.

An official said that the account has been banned on the request of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the comments making ‘anti-India propaganda’. Verleman said that Narendra Modi’s (Twitter) account has been banned in India on the demand of far-right, Hindu fascist rule. Kalinga Rights Forum, which describes itself as a legal activism group for national interests, claimed that the Center has acted on his complaint against Varleman’s “anti-India propaganda”.
