Sarfaraz Khan is only the third batsman to score more than 900 runs in two different seasons in Ranji Trophy. He is the first player to do this feat for Mumbai. Ajay Sharma did the first in the history of 88 years of Ranji Trophy. Ajay Sharma scored 993 runs in the 1991-92 Ranji season and 1033 runs in the 1996-7 season. Sharma has played first class cricket for Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

At the same time, Mumbai’s great Ranji player Wasif Jaffer scored 1260 runs for the team in the 2008-09 season. In the last days of his career, he started playing for Vidarbha. He also crossed the 1037-run mark for Vidarbha in the 2020 season. Jaffer is the only player who has crossed the thousand-run mark twice in different seasons.
