Ranji Trophy: Mumbai team lost the final under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw, told these 4 players ‘future’


New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh defeated 41-time champion team Mumbai by 6 wickets in the final of Ranji Trophy 2021-22 and fulfilled its dream of winning the title for the first time. While Aditya Srivastava was handling the captaincy of Madhya Pradesh, the command of Mumbai was with Prithvi Shaw. Prithvi praised his team after the defeat and also told 4 players as the ‘future’. He described coach Amol Majumdar as friendly and said that the players enjoyed playing under his guidance.

Mumbai won the toss and scored 374 runs in the first innings in the final match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. After this, Madhya Pradesh scored a big score of 536 runs. Mumbai’s second innings was reduced to 269 runs, giving Madhya Pradesh a target of 108 runs to win. MP achieved it by losing 4 wickets in 29.5 overs and the team became the champion for the first time.

Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw After the defeat in the title match, he said, ‘The way our team played the game, it was unbelievable. There are a lot of new players in the team and they proved their talent. Madhya Pradesh team played better.

He said, ‘I could have batted longer, but the graph goes up and down. Maybe not this year, but next year for sure. You can see the talent in our team – Sarfaraz Khan, Shams Mulani, Parkar, Armaan Jaffer – these are the future. Coach Amol Majumdar, has been friendly. We enjoyed playing under his guidance.
