New Delhi: The Indian team, which went on the England Tour, is ready for the fifth Test match. This match could not be completed last year due to the Corona epidemic. Last year, the last Test match was put on hold indefinitely after several players were found to be Corona positive during the series and it is now being played in Birmingham from 1 July. Former India coach Lalchand Rajput selected the Indian playing XI for this match during a conversation with News18Hindi. He chose Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Ravindra Jadeja as a spinner in his team. Why only Ashwin? On this question, he explained in detail why it would not be right to choose Jadeja in the playing XI.

Former cricketer and coach Lalchand Rajput shared his thoughts regarding the India vs England fifth test match. When asked that for the first time in the history of Indian cricket, a pure fast bowler is going to lead the team. Earlier, Kapil Dev had definitely led the team, but he was part of the team as an all-rounder player.

On this question, Rajput said that of course there will be a big challenge for him. This is happening for the first time in the history of Indian cricket when a pure fast bowler is going to lead the team. At present, it will not be easy to overcome the way the English team is performing under the supervision of its new coach Brendon McCullum. Joe Root, Captain Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are running in excellent form. He has given an example of his positive mindset by batting in T20 style beyond Test cricket in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.

Apart from this, when he was asked who would be the partner of Shubman Gill in the last Test match? On answering this question, he took the name of Shrikar Bharat, who went on a tour of England with the Indian team for the first time. He believes that Bharat has spent a long time there with the Indian team. At the same time, he has also played practice matches recently, due to which he has been in perfect harmony with the conditions there.

He has also given the reason behind not including Indian experienced batsman Mayank Agarwal in the playing XI. He said that we know that the condition of England is slightly different than other countries. Agarwal has recently reached England. He didn’t even play practice matches. In such a situation, it may take some time for them to set up there.

According to the conditions in England, Rajput has chosen Shubman Gill and Shrikar Bharat as the opening pair. Apart from this, he has kept Cheteshwar Pujara at the third order and former captain Virat Kohli at the fourth order, Hanuma Vihari at the fifth order and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant at the sixth order. Apart from this, he has given more importance to Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder player.

The former Indian player believes, ‘Ashwin also bats well. Recently we have seen his batting in IPL. Apart from this, he has dominance in bowling. So he will prefer Ashwin in the playing XI between Jadeja and Ashwin.

Apart from this, he has also shared his views about Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas. He said that he will go to the field with Vihari at the fifth order. Shreyas Iyer has definitely scored a century while debuting in India, but the condition of England is completely different from India. He has also told the region to include Vihari in the team. He believes Vihari is the perfect player for Test cricket.
