IND vs ENG: News of relief for Team India, veteran English bowler’s ‘vacation’ from ODI-T20 series

New Delhi. Team India is currently on a tour of England. India has to play the only Test against England from July 1. After this, a series of 3 T20 and as many ODIs will be played between the two countries. Even before this, relief news has come out for India. England leg-spinner Adil Rashid will not play in both T20 and ODI series against India. After this, he will not play for Yorkshire in the T20 Blast as well. Rashid had sought leave from the England and Wales Cricket Board and Yorkshire for Haj, which has been approved. Rashid will leave for Mecca on Saturday.

The ECB hopes that Rashid will join the English team before the series against South Africa in July. Rashid told ESPNcricinfo, “I always wanted to go for Haj. But there was no time for this. However, this year I felt it was something that I should do, so I prepared for it.”

Rashid to go on Haj pilgrimage
Rashid further said, “I spoke to the ECB and Yorkshire about it and they understood my point and said that I can go and come back whenever I want. Now my wife and I will go on Haj pilgrimage for a few weeks. This is our big moment. Every religion has its own different thing. But for Islam and being a Muslim, this is one of the biggest things. I knew that I had to do this journey now, because I am still healthy and age is also supporting me. The thought of limited overs series against India didn’t come to my mind. I just thought I should go for Haj now.

Matt Parkinson may get a chance
In Rashid’s absence, Matt Parkinson is likely to get a chance in the ODI and T20I series against India. Parkinson made his Test debut against New Zealand this month as a replacement for Jack Leach after he suffered a concussion.
