New Delhi. The threat of corona is looming over the Test between India and England to be played in Birmingham from July 1. England wicketkeeper Ben Fox has also been hit by this virus after Indian captain Rohit Sharma was found to be Corona positive. For this reason, he will no longer play against New Zealand in the ongoing third and final Test at Headingley. Fox Headingley was unable to keep wickets on the third day of the Test due to a back strain. Jonny Bairstow did the wicketkeeping in his place. After this, he was tested for corona infection in the evening. Its report came positive.

Sam Billings has been included in the England squad as a replacement for Ben Fox. Billings will be directly included in the playing XI of England at the start of the fourth day’s play as soon as the ICC gets the green signal. Billings is currently playing for Kent in the T20 Blast and has joined the team. On the third day of the Headingley Test, New Zealand scored 168 runs for the loss of five wickets in their second innings and the Kiwis are 137 runs ahead of England with five wickets remaining.

Apart from Fox, no other player is infected.
After Ben Fox got corona infected, a statement issued by England said that apart from Fox, no other case of corona has been reported in the team. All other players are following the corona protocol and if needed, the rest of the players will also have a corona test.

After this news surfaced, doubts have arisen over Fox playing against India in the Test starting July 1 in Birmingham. However, England are hopeful that he will be fit before the Test against India.
