Gujarat: Youth sentenced to death for rape and murder with 8-year-old child


Vadodara. A special POCSO court at Savli in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on Tuesday sentenced a 20-year-old to death for raping and killing an eight-year-old child. Special Judge JA Thakur sentenced Dhirendrasinh Thakor to death. Thakor had kidnapped the child in 2016 for ransom.

The court also directed the Vadodara District Legal Services Authority to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the father of the child. The court, while awarding death sentence to the convict, said that this offense falls in the ‘rare category’. The POCSO court found that the offense was premeditated and was committed without any kind of provocation.

Thakor was punished under sections 363 (kidnapping), 364 (A) (kidnapping for ransom), 302 (murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence), 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the POCSO Act. has been heard. The court sentenced him to death under sections 302 and 364 (a) of the Indian Penal Code.

In this way the accused executed the incident
According to the prosecution, Thakor, who was then living with his maternal grandparents in Desar village, kidnapped the boy on October 21, 2016. The accused locked the boy in an attic room at his grandparents’ house, from where he sent several messages to the boy’s father, demanding Rs 10 lakh to release the child. Upset over not getting the money, the accused strangled the boy to death after raping him.
