Jalandhar Police has busted a big racket of arms smuggling and extortion by arresting 13 shooters belonging to Palwinder Singh Pinda gang. According to the news agency ANI, all of them are history-sheeters. More than 30 cases are registered against him. 11 arms, two vehicles and cash of Rs 8 lakh have been recovered from their possession. 6 other people have also been arrested for providing support and help to them.
Jalandhar (Rural) SSP Swapan Sharma told that gangster Palwinder Singh alias Pinda is the kingpin of extortion and arms smuggling gang. He runs this business with the help of Khalistani terrorist Paramjit alias Pamma present in Greece. Hindustan Times reports that Pinda was arrested in 2016 for conspiring to break into Nabha jail. He has been a close associate of gangster Vicky Gounder. Vicky was also one of the six prisoners who escaped from the high security Nabha jail. However, he was later killed in a police encounter in Rajasthan in 2018.
According to the police, the 13 arrested shooters have been identified as Sunil Masih, Ravinder Ravi, Pradeep Singh, Manjinder Singh, Sukhman Singh, Sandeep, Major Singh, Aparel Singh, Balwinder, Salinder Singh, Satpal Singh, Devinderpal Singh and Satwant Singh. . All of them are trained shooters and are adept at wielding a variety of weapons. Dozens of cases are registered against them in many areas including Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran and Bathinda. These cases are of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and arms smuggling. This gang is active for the last six years.
The police have recovered 11 weapons including seven .32 bore pistols, three .315 bore pistols and one .315 bore gun from their possession. Apart from this, Toyota Innova and Mahindra XUV 500 cars and Rs 8 lakh in cash have also been found. The six people who have been arrested for providing shelter and aid to these shooters have been identified as Amarjeet, Balbir Masih, Eric, Badal, Harvinder Singh and Bachitar Singh.
Apart from this, Punjab Police raided Faridkot Jail on Friday. During this, 6 mobiles, 3 chargers and 4 headphones were seized. An FIR has also been registered in this regard.
