New Delhi. Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair, who was arrested on Monday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, was on Monday night sent to one-day police remand. Alt News’s second co-founder Prateek Sinha was also present with Mohammad Zubair at that time. Zubair has been arrested for hurting religious sentiments.
According to a news agency ANI, Delhi Police officials said that Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair had applied for bail, which was rejected by the court. The court accepted the appeal of 1 day remand of Delhi Police. A case has been registered against Mohammad Zubair under sections 153A and 295A of the IPC. According to the police, a complaint was lodged against Zubair for making objectionable tweets.
Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair was summoned by the Delhi Police on Monday for questioning in that case. After that, on Monday, the IFSO unit of Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested Mohammad Zubair. Police say that Mohammad Zubair did not cooperate with the police during interrogation. It is noteworthy that Mohammad Zubair, co-founder of Alt News, is accused of tweeting hurting the sentiments of a religious community. Alt News’ second co-founder Prateek Sinha, while giving information about the arrest of Mohammad Zubair, wrote on Twitter that Zubair was called by the Special Cell of Delhi Police for investigation in a 2020 case. For which he had already got protection from arrest from the High Court.
